The 50mm f/1.4 DG DN Art is engineered for uncompromising performance, featuring 14 elements in 11 groups. The optical recipe includes one SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass element and three aspherical elements, which work in unison to suppress sagittal coma flare and chromatic aberrations—ensuring that even at f/1.4, the image remains crisp across the frame. Sigma’s Super Multi-Layer Coating is applied to manage flare and ghosting, maintaining high contrast even in backlit portrait sessions. A major leap for this mirrorless version is the inclusion of the HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) focus motor. This high-torque linear motor provides nearly silent, high-speed autofocus that is fully compatible with Sony’s most advanced real-time subject tracking. The lens body is fully featured for professional workflows, including a manual aperture ring with a de-click switch for video, an AFL button for custom functions, and an Iris Lock switch. The entire structure is dust and splash-resistant, featuring a water and oil-repellent coating on the front element for reliability in the field.
