The 35mm f/2 DG DN is defined by its exceptional all-metal construction, including a precision-cut aluminum barrel and a matching magnetic metal lens cap. Optically, it is highly advanced, featuring 10 elements in 9 groups, including one SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass element and three aspherical elements. This configuration ensures high-contrast images and edge-to-edge sharpness that can easily resolve the sensors of high-megapixel cameras like the Sony A7R V. Part of the lens's charm is its mechanical operation; it features a beautifully damped manual aperture ring and a knurled focus ring that provide a satisfying tactile experience. The autofocus is powered by a quiet, high-speed stepping motor, making it well-suited for both discreet street photography and video vlogging. Despite its small size, it remains durable with a dust and splash-resistant brass mount. A unique feature of the I-series is the inclusion of the Magnetic Lens Cap, which snaps onto the front of the lens with a firm, premium feel, in addition to a standard plastic snap-on cap.
