Its sophisticated optical design features 16 elements in 13 groups, including three FLD (F Low Dispersion) glass elements, two SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements, and two molded aspherical elements. This complex arrangement effectively minimizes optical aberrations and ensures excellent resolution from corner to corner, even when shooting wide open at f/1.4. The lens features a stepping motor that provides fast, smooth, and near-silent autofocus, making it ideal for video recording and "face recognition" tracking. Built to withstand outdoor use, it includes a dust and splash-proof construction with a rubber seal around the high-precision brass bayonet mount. While it lacks a physical aperture ring (common on native Fujifilm lenses), it offers a premium, minimalist design with a large, rubberized manual focus ring for tactile control.
